Losing It!

Detox – Week Two… I’m actually enjoying all the vegetables and fruit I’m eating!  And this week I got to add high quality protein to the mix.  I went crazy for seafood, which is odd because fish is usually my last choice for an entrée.

Lisa Fletcher was putting out another fire – the air conditioning was broken in the recording studio she runs with her husband, Freddy, and she was on one line with a repairman, on another with artists concerned for their equipment, and in the middle of it all she took a few minutes to talk with Moxie. And that was a slow day.

A physician, yoga instructor and jazz singer, Gaila Kenneally, the covergirl for this month’s edition, doesn’t like pigeonholes.

Originally from Los Angeles, Kenneally studied in France during high school, holds an undergrad degree in Spanish and Portugese history from UCLA and came to Texas on a temporary move to take electives during med school.

Jill Pankey has won awards for her pencil drawings, painted striking scenes of pastoral beauty and even composed and executed wall-sized murals.

But the instructor in the Department of Art and Design at Texas State University keeps coming back to a theme, one splashed all over the walls of her studio. Women, in bright colors: Dancing. Turning somersaults. Twining around ribbons and bars and flowing fabrics. Loud.
